Tis the season to...you choose.
Ahhh...the dreaded holiday that makes the clouds above college girls and boys heads turn grey is over. This was my fourth valentine's day on a college campus. Here at school it becomes more of a valentine's day season and not simply one special day that every one wears red and spends 8 dollars on big cards. No, here on the inside of the college bubble the season starts around January 9th or 10th when all the couples and pseudo couples see each other again for a new semester. The exchanges of complaints and questions of each other rather empty Christmas vacations are shared and then the real wonder begins as they begin to realize that things have changed in the perfect little Disney movie they have created and remember from before Christmas break.
Yes, it is sad. but i went through it too. Now begins the testing phase from mid January on through the first week of February. The testing phase s when senior guys who don't want to wind up with only a diploma to cuddle with after graduation begin to get...well, a little desperate and needy. You walk through the commons area and see every girl in mid laugh at a joke told by a competing male predator. For females, its the lack of attention he gives you and the built up fantasy of how great he is or "how great you think he is" (that's a generalization).
After the testing period is over, now we enter the final stretch and preparation time. The guy has gone to his friends and mentors for advice and comfort in full preparation to make his move. The ladies have gone shopping, and not really changed much else accept stay up late talking about how much they know "he totally would never like her." And then...it happens. We all have done and have all had it happen to us. Hearts are broken, dreams are reached, and flowers are handed off. And chocolate is crowned king once again...whether to be shared between to love sick puppies on their journey toward potential marital bliss or chocolate, in any way shape or form, used to as a numbing drug to mend a broken and crushed heart. I have used it for both and neither one makes it taste any better.
I’m done writing now.

Would you believe I haven't seen Becky, in person, for over a month? She's coming down tomorrow and we're going to...well, I’ll tell you later cuz it’s still a surprise to her. Have post-valentine’s season to everyone! I mean it, find joy in the life you have and not in what you want.
